A time before CP Plus
Roadchef and other motorway service station operators faced a range of challenges, mainly people leaving their cars for long periods of time. The Highways Agency insists that parking is available for motorway users at service stations so that long term parking needs to be kept to a minimum ensuring that travelers are able to take a rest break.
Then in the year 2000…
CP Plus was taken on to work closely with Roadchef to implement a plan to enforce its parking. CP Plus has been providing expert car park management for Roadchef for 11 years, managing all of its motorway service stations across the UK.
Today, Roadchef operates 20 motorway service areas throughout Britain and aims to provide a restful and relaxing environment for all its customers - over 60 million a year.
What makes Roadchef truly different from its competitors is the efficient service it provides from the moment customers park their cars until they drive away. Roadchef is pleased to offer free parking for up to two hours at all of its Motorway Service Areas, after which time charges apply.
CP Plus takes control
To combat the issue of long term parking, CP Plus had historically used traditional parking enforcement methods. But as technology has improved and evolved, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) has been introduced at its sites nationwide.
Charging for long stay parking, allowed HGVs to park overnight, but ANPR monitored those vehicles that misused the parking facilities. As well as car park management and parking enforcement, CP Plus also manages the other parking facilities at the sites ensuring the separate parking areas for HGV drivers and coach customers are properly utilised.
